Melbourne victory’s Archie Thompson has been declared fit for the match against Brisbane Roars. Melbourne Victory will be taking on Brisbane Roar in the A-league encounter between the two clubs. Archie Thompson had to be taken off in the training, and was seen participating in the match against Gosch’s Paddock for only about 10 min. Hence, he was a major doubt for the match against Brisbane Roar. Brisbane Roar are flying very close to the top of the table. They are only five points behind table leaders Central Coast Mariners, despite the fact that they have played a game more than the leaders.

Undoubtedly, they will be looking to capitalise on the advantage once more by taking three points against Melbourne Victory. However, the presence of Archie Thompson is expected to make a huge difference for the match as a whole. After suffering a dip in form under new manager Jim Magilton, Melbourne Victory finally achieved their first victory under the new manager’s regime. The 2-1 win over table leaders Central Coast has provided them with a great deal of confidence. Hence, Brisbane Roar cannot just discount their opponents, as yet another lower level opposition.

“I’d like to build that momentum and I’d like us to go on a run obviously, but we’ve just got to make sure that we are at the same sort of intensity going into this game. We’ve got recognise that Brisbane is a tough proposition at home, but we beat the league leaders so I’d like to think if we can replicate it we’ve got a chance. They go into every game believing they can win. They’ve got a system of play which suits their players and they’ve been excellent all season,” Magilton said. Brisbane Roar, though, can count on the home advantage for this match.
