The Melbourne Victory manager Ange Postecoglou has said that the players should not be as ill tempered as they have been in the last few matches because it is still only pre-season. A major brawl erupted between the Phoenix and the Jets in a pre-season friendly match. Only a few days ago, a major brawl erupted between fans of two different clubs prior to the start of the pre-season friendly match. This certainly does not reflect well before the start of the new season according to the Melbourne Victory manager Ange Postecoglou. He has said that he will certainly not tolerate such ill temper at Melbourne Victory.

Ange Postecoglou has won the Australian championship two times in his career and is rated as one of the best coaches in Australia. The Australian league begins only in the first week of September. Melbourne Victory have played a few friendly matches so far, but the results have not been good. They have suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Olympiacos in a recent friendly match. Ange Postecoglou, though, is confident that his players will be able to shake off the bad run of form in a pre-season friendly match to secure victory against Melbourne Heart on the opening day of the season.

“It doesn’t reflect well, that’s for sure. I saw some vision of it (Saturday’s brawl) and I don’t really understand it. I think players and coaches and everyone involved should probably understand this is preseason. I’d be disappointed if it was my team doing that. I think discipline’s part of getting your team ready. We don’t have any stars. We’ll play everyone who’s available,” said Ange Postecoglou ahead of the start of the new season. Melbourne Victory are certainly one of the favourites to lift the title this time around.
