Brisbane Roar recently suffered a thrashing at the hands of Melbourne Victory, but manager Kevin Muscat refused to get carried away because of this impressive win.

Melbourne managed a 4-0 win against the table leaders. The team was coming on the back of a three match unbeaten run, but they were not expected to get such a convincing win against one of the inform teams in the division. After all, Melbourne Victory had just conceded three goals in the win over Central Coast United. Muscat appears to have downplayed the victory since he sees a lot of work ahead of the team.

The team are still on the fringes of going out of a play-off place if results take a sharp turn for the worst. The win over Brisbane Roar has helped Melbourne Victory strengthen their position over Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix. Both teams are already several points behind Melbourne in the table. Muscat will be hoping to build on this means when his team have yet another home game against one of the teams near the top of the table. Sydney are third in the table and are only three points ahead of Melbourne Victory. This should be a great motivation for the home team to get three points and move up the table.

“We have been asking and searching for a performance for longer than fits and spurts and halves and we got that tonight. Was I surprised? If I am honest, I say no. I know what the group is capable of. Our application and attitude was spot-on tonight, our adherence to tactics was superb. But it’s one game, it’s gone and we will move on. One thing there wasn’t was panic.Tonight we were ruthless. The attitude for 90 minutes to control the game against the league leaders was superb,” said Muscat.
