Melbourne Victory have made a poor start to the league campaign

Melbourne Victory have made a poor start to the league campaign after taking only four points from the opening three games, but this run does not concern manager Kevin Muscat.

The manager remains confident that the players are good enough to start picking results sooner rather than later. The team recently suffered a 1-0 narrow defeat against Newcastle Jets. This does not bode well for the upcoming game against Wellington Phoenix in front of their own supporters. The A-League is only a couple of matches old for the 2015/16 season, but the team are already finding themselves in the middle of the table.

Table leaders Sydney have been able to open a six-point advantage already after having dropped only two points so far. This will be a sizeable advantage even at this early stage. Apart from having to contend with the threat from Sydney, Melbourne Victory also need to overcome the likes of Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets if they are to become successful this season. After having performed exceptionally well and won the title last season, it is turning out into a potential mediocre campaign for Victory. Muscat says that the way his team are playing gives him no reason for concern.

“In the three games so far, we’ve been the dominant team, the better team, and we haven’t returned the points that we would have liked. We want to be dominant tomorrow, but we want to get the right return of points as well. Are we concerned about the way we are playing? No, no we’re not. It’s not like fans are rushing out to get an bet365 angebotscode to bet on us losing – we’re still playing well, it’s just not going for us at the moment.

“Tomorrow is about performing and being the dominant team and being the best team on the night and getting the right return of points for it.It’s going to be a hell of a game and they have been in the past,” said Muscat.
